I selected this watch for a Valentine's Day gift from my husband. I loved the look of it and I do enjoy the larger size watch faces since I like to easily see the time. At first I was clueless as to why the watch kept losing time but after reading the reviews, I realized I had to wind it on a regular basis! This gave me pause since I am accustomed to battery-powered watches and never give maintenance a second thought until the watch stops and I have to replace the battery. It would be nice if this watch offered both options. I had to return this beautiful watch for two reasons. The first reason was that I found it difficult to see the time. Between the white face and silver colors and the crystals winking at me, it was difficult to ascertain the time with a quick look. I had to actually examine the watch face, which is not why I wear a watch. The second reason was that I was unsure how often and how many turns were needed per day to keep the watch "wound." I would turn the winder whenever I thought of it but since I didn't wear it every day, I would reach for it only to discover that it had stopped or the time was wrong and this necessitated resetting the time all over again. After too many days of needing to set the time when I picked up the watch to wear, I decided that I wasn't diligent enough to own this watch. I don't want to constantly wonder if my watch is displaying the correct time. I do love the sweeping second hand but had to return it since this watch was just not for me.

Scored big points with the wife with this watch as a gift.Pros: 1. Easy to change the straps. Big buttons on the back of the strap allow HER to change the straps herself. I do not have to change the strap every time she changes the color of her outfit, shoes, earrings, nails, etc.2. 5 bands with lots of color choices. Goes with lots of different outfits.3. Looks good - looks better than the price - rich4. No date - do not have to reset all the time.5. She keeps thanking me for itCons: 1. Automatic - stops if nit worn often enough. Have to reset time or use a winder (around $50 to $100).2. No Date (Yes both a pro and a con) she likes a date)

I bought this watch on a whim, tired of having to replace watch batteries. I figured winding a watch everyday would be better than having to make a special trip out to get my watch working again.I wasn't familiar with the Stuhrling brand, so I read many reviews of other Stuhrling watches. Seems like most people were happy, but some complained of watches that suddenly broke or otherwise stopped working not long after purchase. I was a little apprehensive of buying something with no reviews, but this one seemed so pretty, and the price so right, that I took a leap of faith.I just got the watch two days ago. So far, I'm really enjoying it. It's a little heavier than watches I've had in the past, so if you're looking for something small and dainty I suggest you keep looking. But for me it's not too big or overwhelming on my wrist. It also came with 4 additional interchangable straps, so it was like getting 5 watches in one.The packaging and presentation were really nice too, so I think it would make a great gift.Hopefully the watch will last for years to come. If I end up having any problems like what some other reviewers mentioned with other Stuhrling models, I'll come back and update.Lastly, I want to commend Amazon for their excellent customer service. I had an issue with this purchase that I needed to resolve, and Amazon rose to the occasion.[EDIT 2/16/12] I haven't had any problems with the watch losing time. But since I don't wear it every day, and don't have an automatic watch winder, I manually wind the watch daily.
